Edgar Daniel

Hailing from Humacao, Puerto Rico, salsa vocalist Edgar Daniel first drew widespread attention in 2005–2006 through a string of award nominations. His debut full-length project, Controversial, appeared in 2005 on the independent label Music Productions. The set produced two Top 20 Latin Tropical Airplay entries—“Me Extrañarás” and “Cuando Baje la Marea”—and brought Daniel nominations at both the 2006 Premios Billboard de la Música Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro. Buoyed by that reception, he secured a contract with Sony BMG, which reissued Controversial the following year. In 2008 the major issued his long-anticipated sophomore album, Virgo, which yielded the hit single “Mentiras.”
