Biography
Julia Frodahl, who previously lived in San Francisco, originated this ensemble now headquartered in Brooklyn and recognized for its rich yet frequently subdued serenades built from minimal vocals and delicate sonic layers in the manner of Cowboy Junkies and Low. The group came together in Brooklyn during February 2000, at which point Frodahl started drawing lyrical ideas from personal letters sent by friends. After tracking sessions inside a converted stable, the musicians issued their first album and then secured a contract with Endearing Records in 2001. To promote the February 2002 release, the band performed across North America and Europe.
