El Jeffrey

José Gabriel Severino came into the world on April 1, 1974, in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, and performs merengue under the name El Jeffrey. He belonged to La Artillería before stepping out on his own toward the close of the 1990s. His first full-length project reached listeners as Jeffrey Para el Mundo in 1998 through EMI. Over the next ten years Sony put out Mi Tierra in 2003 and Mi Vida in 2005, recordings that drew favorable attention. About five years after that, the single "Loco de Amor" and the 2011 album Yo Soy Merengue on the independent Sánchez Family Entertainment label added to his visibility.
