Biography
El Manjar de los Dioses came together in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, during 1994, when singer José Luis Abreu joined guitarists Rey and Reyis Nieves, keyboardist Eggie Santiago, and drummer David Pérez. Because the group’s name draws from Greek mythology, its lyrics center on philosophical reflections. The band issued its debut recording in 1997 and followed it with Alucinando two years later; the track “Déjame Vivir” marked their first hit. Their tropical-rock approach reached U.S. audiences for the first time at Los Angeles’ Rocanrol Festival in June 2000. That August the same ensemble appeared in New York on the Watcha Tour.
