Biography
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, contemporary jazz saxophonist Eldredge Jackson informed his mother at age four of his determination to pursue the saxophone after witnessing a performance by Vernard Johnson. His minister father later relocated the household to Tulsa, Oklahoma, during Jackson’s childhood to establish a non-denominational church. There he developed an early friendship with Wayman Tisdale, who would go on to become a professional basketball star and jazz bassist. After cultivating a regional audience throughout Oklahoma and Texas, Jackson signed with JEA Records to release his debut album, Listening Pleasure, co-produced by Tisdale and issued on October 7, 2008.
