Biography
A gifted interpreter of the classical harp canon who also champions contemporary pieces composed expressly for the instrument, Elisa Netzer has appeared throughout her native Switzerland as well as in Italy, Spain, the U.K., and Brazil, collaborating with numerous orchestras worldwide and presenting solo recitals on international stages. She completed her studies at the Arrigo Boïto Music Conservatory in Parma, Italy, before obtaining a master’s degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where her principal instructors were Skaila Kanga, Judith Liber, and Emanuela Degli Esposti. Netzer has secured top honors in multiple contests, claiming first prizes at the Guy McGrath Harp Competition of the United Kingdom Harp Association, the Swiss Young Musicians competition, the Concorso Internazionale di Esecuzione musicale di Riccione, the Bellagio Festival Competition, the Concorso Internazionale Giovani Musicisti di Legnago, the International Harp Competition in Szeged, and the Daniele Ridolfi Competition in Viareggio. Her professional debut came in 2013 with the State Hermitage Orchestra in St. Petersburg, after which she was designated a young emerging artist at the Musical Olympus Festival. Further festival engagements followed in 2017 at the Lucerne Festival and the World Harp Festival in Hong Kong, and in 2018 she issued her debut Naxos recording, Toccata, presenting both transcriptions and original works written for the harp.
