Biography
Eliz Camacho stands out as a contemporary R&B performer and screen actress whose vocals combine depth and soulfulness with an instinctive grasp of pop structure, recalling earlier figures such as Keri Hilson, Ciara, Amerie, Kelly Rowland, and a young Beyoncé. Born Elizabeth Marie Camacho in Hinsdale, Illinois, she has long made her home in North Carolina, where church choir singing marked her earliest musical experiences and high-school chorus work followed. She later joined an ensemble that performed for President Obama in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Rather than pursue formal studies in meteorology, she set aside college plans to concentrate on music, sharpening her technique through stage roles in West Side Story and Our Town. Those theater credits led to screen appearances in High School Musical 2 and Changing the Game. Her first single, “Get Loose,” appeared in 2011, after which she shared bills with Boyz II Men, Omarion, Yolanda Adams, Kelly Price, and Robin Thicke. “Unfinished Letter” followed in 2016, the same year she took part in the fifteenth season of American Idol.
