Biography
Based in Stockholm, Ellen Arkbro creates lengthy just-intonation compositions alongside installations and sonic environments that combine acoustic instruments with digital processing. Her training took place under LaMonte Young and Marian Zazeela in New York as well as with Marc Sabat in Berlin. Several of her pieces have been written for early music ensembles, including a presentation that ran for 26 days at the Stockholm Concert Hall. Subtext issued her debut album, For Organ and Brass, in 2017 after it was captured in St. Stephen's Church in Tangermünde, Germany, on a 17th-century organ along with horn, trombone, and microtonal tuba.
