Elliot James Mulhern works as a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer whose atmospheric indie electronic pop has defined his output. He first rose to prominence during the 2000s as drummer for Hey Monday before shifting attention to production duties and solo releases. As founder of Blossöm Records, he has issued several shimmering psychedelic albums: 2016’s Soft Osaka Dreams, 2019’s Always Lately, and 2022’s Insufferable.

Born in London, England, in 1989 to interior-designer parents, Mulhern spent his childhood in a creative household and began drumming while still in school. At age thirteen he relocated with his family to South Florida, where he met singer Cassadee Pope. Together they established the emo-rock band Hey Monday in 2007; he performed and recorded with the group for two years, contributing to the 2008 release Hold On Tight. After departing Hey Monday he joined Break Blossom and appeared on its 2012 album Last Night of Your Life.

Around that period Mulhern increasingly devoted time to personal projects and session work for other artists. In 2016 he established his Los Angeles-based Blossöm Records, inaugurating the imprint with the EP Soft Dreams Osaka. A second EP, Favourite, followed in 2017 and featured contributions from Texas Drew, Cobeshack, and James Stein. He also handled production for Jallal on tracks such as “Toss & Turn” and “Never Forgotten.” In 2018 he issued the solo single “Fiend” and assembled the group Extremely Bad Man alongside Julio Tavarez, Cobeshack, and Jeremy Michaels, resulting in the album Love Is Pure.

Always Lately, his first full-length album, arrived in 2019 and yielded the singles “Smooth” and “Filters,” balancing experimental indie-rock elements with dance-oriented, electronically and R&B-inflected textures. The following year brought his sophomore effort, Tiny Correspondence, Dangerous Ideas and Sensitive Affairs, which deepened the atmospheric, psychedelic atmosphere and spotlighted the single “DREAMLOVE” featuring Aaron Marsh of Copeland. In April 2022 he released Insufferable, his third full-length collection of lyrical, psych-infused pop.
