Biography
Barraine pursued studies in composition, harmony, and fugue at the Paris Conservatoire. Between 1936 and 1939 she held the post of Chef du Chant at the RTF, and during WWII she joined The Front National des Musiciens. Her works generate tension and frequently turn tragic in tone. She ranks among the most gifted French composers to appear after Lili Boulanger.
