Details regarding the country blues performer and guitarist Elvie Thomas remain scarce. Palmer's Crossing, MS, is mentioned as her possible birthplace. During a March 1930 session in Grafton, WI, for Paramount Records, she laid down the tracks "Motherless Child Blues" and "Over to My House," where Geeshie Wiley provided accompaniment on second guitar. At that same session, Thomas supported Wiley by contributing second guitar parts to "Last Kind Word Blues" and "Skinny Leg Blues." In the following year, she provided vocals and guitar backing for Wiley on the Paramount releases "Pick Poor Robin Clean" and "Eagles on a Half."
