Biography
Paris-based vocalist Emeneya Kester has reshaped the soukous traditions of Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo) into his own “rumba funk.” Although grounded in African musical heritage, Kester has steadily added European influences and instrumentation. The outcome is a worldwide sound he describes as intended for “the new generation for the interplanetary conquest of musical space.” After establishing his name in his native country throughout the late ’70s and early ’80s, Emeneya moved to Paris.
