Biography
Durand distinguished himself both as a creator of operettas and as an author addressing topics in musical theory. His publications on theory encompass one volume dedicated to harmony and a second concerning the composition of music. Among the stage works he produced are the operettas "l'Elixir de Cornelius" and "l'Astronome du Pont Neuf". Songs and pieces written expressly for male choruses also figure among his output.
