Biography
Macedonian violinist and conductor Emilio Percan launched his training at seven and delivered his debut recital by fourteen. His teachers included Isabella Golovina in Moscow and Dora Ivanova in Sofia; he later enrolled at Folkwang University in Essen to work with Peter Daniel and also received instruction from Andreas Reiner, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Christian Rieger, Dirk Mommertz, and Stephan Schardt. In 2006 he became a member of L’Arte del Mondo, serving as concertmaster while appearing as soloist in concerto repertoire. Among his chamber and recital partners are Daniel Hope, Viktoria Mullova, Simone Kermes, Michael Roll, and Ruth Ziesak. Percan has toured throughout Europe and South America, performing as concerto soloist with numerous orchestras; one such engagement was with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan, resulting in a recording of Brahms’ Violin Concerto. His discography appears on the Pan Classics and Onyx Classics labels.
