Biography
Originally rooted in San Francisco, comedian and writer Emily Heller drew crowds in with her incisive yet easygoing and chatty standup, marked by a touch of self-mockery and focused on subjects like feminism, urban living, and single life. After earning her degree from the University of California Santa Cruz, she launched her career in the San Francisco comedy circuit in the late 2000s and earned recognition from 7x7 Magazine as one of the "7 Funniest People in Town" in 2011. She shifted to New York City that same year, where she showcased her material on programs including New York Stand-Up Show, Conan, Chelsea Lately, and additional comedy outlets. Her festival appearances spanned the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland. Both Variety and Comedy Central designated her a Comic to Watch. She moved to Los Angeles in 2014, contributed writing to the Fox series Surviving Jack, and took on an acting part in the second season of the TBS series Ground Floor. In 2015 she signed with Kill Rock Stars and issued her debut comedy album, Good for Her.
