Biography
Endemic Void emerged as a one-man endeavor by dance music producer Danny Koffey, whose earlier contributions had come through the acid house and techno acts Slipstream and Strictly Rockers. What began as a casual outlet for exploring jazz, dub, and drifting ambient textures inside a jungle framework soon eclipsed those prior commitments, turning into a full-time concern once its appeal became clear. The project aligned with Language, the label run by former Moody Boyz member Tony Thorpe, issuing a 12-inch and the debut album Equations in 1996; the record drew immediate notice for delivering drum'n'bass that remained both accessible and sharply inventive. Subsequent reworkings appeared for Meat Beat Manifesto as well as Quant on Sweden’s Dot imprint, while Shogun of Reinforced and No-U-Turn’s Nico Sykes each supplied their own versions of Endemic Void material. Selections from the project also surfaced on the widely circulated Breakbeat Science compilations.
