An inspired concept gave rise to the Enlightenment Road Band, assembled by leading musicians based in Georgia. Each contributor already maintained a thriving solo career when they joined forces on this first project. The roster features songwriter and producer John Scriven alongside vocalist, pianist, and saxophonist Randall Bramblett, keyboardists Steve McRay and Kenny Head, and vocalists Francine Reed, Michael Bastedo, Susan Gallion, Jeff Hilyer, Chris Long, and Wally Carter. Marvin Taylor stands among the central figures, handling songwriting, bass, guitar, and drums.

Their debut album, Songs From the Road to Enlightenment, appeared in spring 2001 and earned largely enthusiastic notices. Reviewers praised the collection as an uplifting set whose songs blend rock & roll, blues, soul, jazz, and occasional country-ballad touches. Among the tracks are “I’m Not Doubtful,” “Forgiving Eyes,” “Under the Skin,” “Stranded in the Comfort Zone,” “Be True to You,” and “Love Gives You Wings.”

The Enlightenment Road Band continues to perform live, and further recordings remain possible; however, the personnel may shift over time, with fresh players joining and some original members departing. Whichever combination results, the music promises to satisfy.
