Entombed A.D.

Entombed A.D. originated in 2014 when Lars-Göran Petrov, one of Entombed’s founders, assembled the project to continue issuing the punishing output of these pivotal Scandinavian death metal figures under a new banner. Court rulings had established that the original band name remained the property of its four founding members, prompting Petrov to proceed independently. He enlisted guitarist Nico Elgstrand, bassist Victor Brandt, and drummer Olle Dahlstedt—musicians who had constituted the bulk of Entombed’s final roster. The group’s debut release under the revised name, Back to the Front, appeared in 2014. Dead Dawn followed two years later through Century Media. That November the original Entombed lineup marked the 25th anniversary of its 1991 sophomore album Clandestine by performing the record in full alongside the Malmö Symphony Orchestra & Choir; the concert later surfaced in 2019 as Clandestine Live. Entombed A.D. delivered its third album, Bowels of the Earth, in August of the same year.
