An obscure funk/soul ensemble called Eramus Hall produced a pair of scarce albums issued by Westbound during the first years of the 1980s. The name, despite appearances, belonged to a full group rather than a lone performer and derived from a historic Chicago building. Their opening LP, Your Love Is My Desire, was tracked in late 1978, yet the Detroit-based Westbound label held its release until 1980. Pressed in minimal quantities, the album barely circulated outside Detroit, leaving many soul collectors and insiders uncertain whether it had ever been made. The group’s second and last album, Go Head, surfaced on Capitol in 1984 and, like its predecessor, attracted little notice. As time passed, attention turned back to the debut, especially its title track and “Just Me ’n’ You.” In the late ’90s the U.K.-based Ace label reissued the album on vinyl and later on CD.
