Hailing from Belgium, the Eric Legnini Trio emerged as the vision of the nation's premier jazz pianist, earning widespread acclaim throughout Europe thanks to their intimate, acoustic interpretations of classic Great American Songbook material. Eric Legnini entered the world in Huy during 1970, took up the piano at six years old, and later joined the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels as a jazz instructor in the 1990s; around the same period he partnered with saxophonist Jacques Pelzer for his first release, Never Let Me Go. Over the following twenty years Legnini maintained a dual focus on leading his own sessions while collaborating onstage and in the studio with figures such as Toots Thielemans, Flavio Boltro, and Stefano di Battista, until 2012 when he assembled bassist Thomas Bramerie and drummer Franck Agulhon to cut the tribute collection Ballads as the Eric Legnini Trio.
