Biography
New York City trombonist and composer Erick Storckman, originally from Indiana, centers his work on jazz while incorporating elements of bebop, Dixieland, R&B, salsa, and ska. Beyond establishing and leading his septet beginning in 1999, he serves as lead trombonist and contributing composer for Diane Moser's Composers Big Band. He has also recorded and toured alongside ska enthusiasts the Toasters, with appearances on their 1990 release This Gun for Hire and 1992 album New York Fever, plus jazz vocalist Marlene Verplank, the Ed Palermo Big Band, Cab Calloway, the Temptations, the Four Tops, and the O'Jays. His first solo effort, Scrapbook, came out on the Orchard label in June 2000.
