Biography
Erin Anne crafts energetic 1990s-inspired indie rock that echoes Liz Phair, pairing memorable melodies with forthright lyrics drawn from her queer feminist outlook. Critical attention arrived with the 2019 debut Tough Love, after which she broadened her palette on the 2022 album Do Your Worst.
Raised in New Jersey, Anne first studied violin in elementary school before moving on to guitar and keyboard. She learned cover songs on her own and began writing originals while still in her teens. At Bowdoin College she encountered the riot grrrl movement, claimed her queer identity, and started her earliest band, the Navel Gazers. After graduation she settled in Portland, Maine, and began performing and recording solo material as REGI RKT. An early EP led to her first album under her own name, 2019’s Tough Love, whose guitar-centered indie rock and folky pop blend earned her a contract with Carpark Records and prompted a wider re-release that brought greater recognition. In 2022 she issued her second album, Do Your Worst, which folded synthy electronic pop into her rock base while continuing to examine feminist and LGBTQ-centric subjects.
