Biography
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, electric blues guitarist Ernie Lancaster contributed to recordings by a wide range of performers before issuing his own solo album, Ernestly, in 1991. Lancaster earned his widest recognition as Root Boy Slim’s guitarist in the Sex Change Band. Additional guitar duties took him into sessions with Ace Moreland, Kenny Neal, Lucky Peterson, Noble Watts, and Rev. Billy C. Wirtz. Ernestly placed the guitarist at the helm of a compact ensemble for ten entirely instrumental pieces he composed. Across its tracks the album moves between instrumental blues-rock, jazz-pop, and soul-jazz.
