Emerging in the wake of the 1999 dissolution of hardcore punk outfit No 666, the Mexican band Escopeta Roja came together when drummer Sergio Carmona Martínez—better known as General Curtiss—and guitarist El Lobo resolved to launch a fresh project. They first recruited ex-Epilepsia bassist Bosse, with guitarist Rayo and singer Ely Santana completing the lineup shortly afterward. The group captured its debut EP, Algún Día...El Algún Momento, during sessions that spanned August and September 2000.
