Biography
Los Angeles-born Estevie blends cumbia and regional Mexican sounds with a fresh Latin pop sensibility. Already several years into her recording career, the Mexican-American vocalist settled on a plan in 2021 to refresh cumbia sonidera and norteña in a style all her own. Guest appearances alongside Eslabon Armado and DannyLux broadened her reach before the September 2023 arrival of her EP Cumbialicious.
Sarah Silva entered the world on February 4, 2003, in Los Angeles and spent her childhood moving between California and Mexico. An early passion for music led her, at age 11, to the Mexican talent show La Academia Kids, where she finished second in 2014. Her formative influences ranged from Mexican figures such as Jenni Rivera and Alicia Villareal to American artist Gwen Stefani. As a teenager she issued music under her birth name, including the 2019 album Mis Sentimientos, then adopted the stage name Estevie in 2020.
Initial Estevie releases such as “Supernatural” and “Teddy” leaned toward electronic-leaning pop with American touches, yet 2021 tracks “Canela” and “Cumbia Loca” foregrounded her cultural heritage through a clear embrace of cumbia. Momentum built with the single “La Cumbia del Cucuy” and a featured role on Eslabon Armado’s 2022 album Nostalgia; the following year she joined DannyLux for the ballad “Triste Verano” while continuing to craft her own Latin pop hybrids, among them “Santee.” Her first EP, Cumbialicious, landed that September, showcasing a wide stylistic range and a collaboration with fellow Californian Cuco.
