Ethan Rose produces experimental ambient music in Portland, OR, drawing from musique concrète while pursuing fascinations with music boxes and player pianos. He maintains ties to Locust, the independent Chicago label, and issued his debut full-length album, Ceiling Songs, in 2006. Spinning Pieces (2007), his second Locust full-length, gathers three earlier limited-edition releases from the same imprint: Miniature & Sea (2003), ...the Dot & the Line... (2004), and Singing Tower (2007). Beyond studio work for Locust, Rose appears in live concert settings and presents pieces through art gallery installations. Gus Van Sant’s Paranoid Park (2007) is among the films that have included his music.
