Biography
Everstar originated as a side endeavor by the prolific new age producers David and Steve Gordon. Their first release under that banner, Enchanted Journey, took thematic cues from director Peter Jackson’s enormously popular Lord of the Rings trilogy. Although track listings included pieces such as “Departure From the Shire” and “On the Road to Rivendell,” the music itself followed familiar new age and contemporary instrumental pathways. Uncertainty also surrounded the lineup beyond the two Gordon siblings; while the album credited additional musicians including Landis Farwind and Eldor Gildomir, scant details existed about these oddly named participants, prompting speculation over whether they were pseudonyms or entirely fictitious. Even so, Enchanted Journey appeared on the Gordons’ own Sequoia label in September 2003, with the seasonal follow-up Yuletide in the Shire arriving before the year ended.
