Biography
In the wake of multiple joint recording sessions that came together unexpectedly, Everyone Says Hi took shape as a quintet, unveiling their light and open pop/rock style during 2024 and releasing their first record, bearing the band's name, one year later.
Nick Hodgson, formerly of Kaiser Chiefs and handling vocals along with production duties, had begun developing material to succeed his 2018 solo effort Tell Your Friends. He brought in Justin Parker, known for work with Rihanna and Lana del Rey, as a songwriter, along with Ben Gordon of the Dead 60s on piano. What started as these efforts soon expanded when guitarist Tom Dawson, bassist Pete Denton who previously played with the Kooks, and drummer Glenn Moule from Howling Bells joined the proceedings, resulting in the formation of the group.
The ensemble secured an initial deal with Chrysalis, adopting the moniker Everyone Says Hi in homage to the David Bowie composition, and put out their debut track, the light and tuneful “Brain Freeze,” during April 2024. Subsequent releases over the following months encompassed “Somebody Somewhere,” “Only One,” and “On the Same Side.” Following a festive rendition of “Walking in the Air,” the band entered 2025 via “Lucky Stars,” which served as the closing single ahead of their self-titled album's launch in January.
