Biography
Originating in Guatemala, the rock band Extinción took shape when ex-La Extinción del Culto Alexander Findley and Roberto Mora assembled the initial lineup, which Luis and Gerlash Dávila completed in 1996. That same year the group issued its debut single. Orange Budha, the band’s first album, appeared in 1997. The following year Extinción shared bills with well-known Latin rockers such as former los Héroes del Silencio Enrique Bunbury, Molotov, Plastilina Mosh, and Todos Tus Muertos. By the end of 1998 the musicians had tracked an EP titled Manyula. Drummer Jorge Herrera and guitarist Luis Castellanos joined Extinción on time to record a live album. Encuentro Acústico 1999 reached stores in the year 2000.
