Biography
Eyes Adrift came together with Curt Kirkwood of Meat Puppets, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, and Bud Gaugh of Sublime after Kirkwood embarked on a solo tour across the American West Coast toward the end of 2001. During that period, Novoselic, who had played bass in Nirvana, encountered Kirkwood in Seattle and proposed a future collaboration. Continuing the tour to Long Beach, California, Kirkwood received a call from Gaugh expressing interest in teaming up as well. Novoselic and Kirkwood later convened at Wire Recording studio in Austin, Texas. Gaugh soon became part of the group, leading the three to start rehearsals in December 2001. Compositions emerged rapidly in those sessions, such as the track "Pasted." Recording sessions then commenced in Washington State. This was followed by a short yet highly acclaimed tour spanning late January into early February, during which the players blended elements of rock, folk, and alternative country. Eyes Adrift put out their first album in 2002.
