Biography
Formed in 1993, Face Down from Stockholm, Sweden, sought to follow the groove-metal path established by Pantera and Machine Head, issuing a pair of strong yet commercially underwhelming mid-'90s albums in Mindfield (1995) and The Twisted Rule the Wicked (1997). The band is now chiefly noted for the later activities of its musicians. Vocalist Marco Aro subsequently fronted the Haunted, guitarist Joacim Carlsson rejoined his earlier group Afflicted while taking on other projects, bassist Joakim Harju launched Construcdead, and original drummer Peter Stjärnvind (Richard Bång having played on the first album) appeared with Entombed, Krux, and Murder Squad. Long afterward, Aro—having been removed from the Haunted—reconvened Face Down's last lineup with Construcdead drummer Erik Thyselius to cut a third album, The Will to Power, issued in 2005.
