Biography
Fallen from the Sky first assembled inside a Boca Raton garage in spring 2002, an origin that belied the group’s name. The punk rock quintet coalesced around vocalist Ryan Loughney, drummer Giancarlo Aservi, bassist Marcus Kora, and guitarists Eric Jazvac and Ky Morland, crafting a sound reminiscent of the Movielife and Rise Against. By playing frequent shows, appearing at festivals, and landing occasional local-radio spins across their home state of Florida, the band steadily raised its profile. December 2003 brought the five-song EP I Understand...But Goodbye. The musicians then joined a segment of 2004’s Warped Tour and, that November, signed with South Florida indie JMB Records. One month later they issued their second EP, Tune Out the World, which was re-released the following April. Road activity persisted, and a limited-edition self-titled 7" surfaced in February 2006. By autumn the group had reached the final six of MTV2’s Dew Circuit Breakout contest, sharing the shortlist with Halifax and I Am the Avalanche. Halifax ultimately won, yet Fallen from the Sky’s second-place finish energized the members as they continued touring and prepared their next album in early 2007.
