Norwegian ensemble Farmers Market blends jazz, Bulgarian folk, bluegrass, pop, and rock. The group formed in 1991 during the members’ jazz studies at the Conservatory of Trondheim and gradually moved beyond their free jazz origins toward an eclectic world music direction. Appearances at multiple festivals followed, among them Norway’s Molde International Jazz Festival in 1994, which supplied material for the debut live album Speed/Balkan/Boogie released the next year. Their second album, Music from the Hybrides, appeared in 1997. After a sabbatical the band resurfaced in 2008 with a self-titled Winter & Winter release.
