Magnus Börjeson, previously the lead singer of Beagle, established the short-lived Swedish alternative pop/rock outfit Favorita during the closing years of the 1990s. His earlier tenure with Beagle yielded the albums Sound on Sound (1992) and Within (1993), releases that achieved only modest commercial returns yet earned strong critical esteem. After exiting Beagle, Börjeson launched Favorita in 1994, and the group issued its first recording, the single “Seven Comforts,” in 1996. That same year the band earned the opportunity to support Brit-pop superstars Pulp on the Swedish leg of their tour. Although the group completed its debut full-length album with an intended 2007 release date, the label ultimately chose not to issue it. Discouraged by this outcome, Börjeson disbanded Favorita and shifted his focus to composing soundtracks. A decade after its completion, the self-titled album Favorita finally appeared in 2007 on Popsicle Records, augmented by additional tracks.
