London-based indie rock trio Feature fuse punk’s jagged energy with the expansive guitar sounds of ’90s alternative rock. Drummer/vocalist Jen Calleja, already active in Sauna Youth, and guitarist/vocalist Liv Willars launched the project in 2012; the pair operated without a bassist for two years and issued the four-song EP Culture of the Copy before bassist Heather Perkins, then of Slowcoaches, completed the lineup. In 2015 the group shared a split single with Slowcoaches and joined them on tour, while also sharing stages with Chain and the Gang, Protomartyr, and the Julie Ruin and performing at Supernormal Festival. When Upset the Rhythm issued the band’s debut album Banishing Ritual in 2017, Feature had already disbanded. Willars relocated to Sheffield, Calleja resumed work with Sauna Youth plus the related projects Monotony and Gold Foil, and Perkins carried on with Slowcoaches.
