Biography
Considered a quintessential example of the one-hit wonder, vocalist Fern Kinney from Jackson, Mississippi performed in the Poppies with Dorothy Moore prior to signing with Atlantic. She later joined Malaco in the late '70s, where her version of King Floyd's "Groove Me" climbed into the R&B Top 30, yet the LPs Groove Me and Fern failed to maintain that early momentum. In 1980 she nevertheless secured a number one hit in England with "Together We Are Beautiful."
