Fernando Martinez

Born Fernando Martínez Barajas to Mexican musician Blas Martínez Panduro, Fernando Martínez first took up the vihuela in his youth before advancing to trumpet with guidance from his brother, violinist Pepe Martínez Barajas. The pair launched Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán in 1965, after which Fernando Martínez Barajas turned to composing and arranging material for the ensemble as well as for other established performers in the region.
