Atlanta-based musicians Jason Krutzky on drums, Kevin Phillips on vocals, and Neil Warren on guitar came together as Fight Paris and immediately plunged into a world saturated with sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Deeply rooted admirers of Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the three fused those foundations with a contemporary blast that earned them a recording contract only four months later. Shifting personnel repeatedly delayed momentum until Matt Tanner joined on guitar and Champ Champagne took over bass duties in 2003. The group then relocated to California, where critics quickly applied the “metalcore” tag even though it overlooked the band’s clear Southern and classic-rock character. After eighteen months on the West Coast yielded no release, the members opted to hunt for a fresh label and headed back to Atlanta. The moment they arrived, Trustkill phoned with a contract offer, having first heard the music through fan Aaron Marsh, the artist responsible for many of the label’s album covers. Granted total creative control, the band tore through tracking so efficiently that the album stood ready for release just six months after that initial call. Early 2006 brought the hedonistic, high-volume single “Destroyer,” which first exposed Fight Paris to a wider audience, followed that summer by the full-length Paradise, Found, packed with tales of excess.
