Fin Fang Foom’s three-piece lineup channels understated layering into aggressive rock foundations, yielding an expansive post-rock texture suited to acts such as Slint, June of 44, and the Mercury Program.

Six-string guitarist Michael Triplett, bassist Edwin Sanchez, and drummer P. Enriquez launched the band in Jacksonville, FL, during 1996. After Enriquez departed the following year, Michael Glass joined on drums; the revised lineup promptly issued its debut 7".

Chapel Hill, NC—an established indie-rock center—attracted the group in 1998. Emulating the tireless road ethic of Black Flag and the Minutemen, Fin Fang Foom prioritized live performance, circulating a CD EP, a 10", and an additional 7" at shows.

By 2001 the trio completed and issued its first full-length, Textures, Structure and the Condition of Moods, through Lovitt Records. Angular, propulsive rhythms drawn from Black Flag are interwoven with deliberate pacing and rich sonic detail, resulting in an authentic post-punk statement.
