Biography
Fire Deuce operates as a side endeavor launched by Travis Stever, lead guitarist for Coheed and Cambria, merging that band's adaptable progressive rock approach with the Sunset Strip sleaze of '80s hair metal and the arena-filling riffage of late-'70s hard rock to produce a party-metal sound. The outfit surfaced in the mid-2000s and has put out three EPs, among them Deep Down & Dirty in 2007 and Lords of Diesel in 2020.
Stever formed the project in 2004, assembling fellow Coheed and Cambria members Joey Eppard on guitar, bass, and vocals, Josh Eppard on drums, and Claudio Sanchez on harmonica, vocals, and guitar, alongside trumpeter Mark Schiskie as well as Bill Riker on guitar and bass, Chris Gartmann on drums, and Joe Stote on keyboards, all drawn from the Woodstock-based progressive metallers 3. The collective delivered its debut EP, Children of the Deuce, in 2005 through Lancaster, Pennsylvania indie CI Records. Deep Down & Dirty followed in 2007, after which an extended pause took place while the participants attended to their many other creative projects. Fire Deuce resurfaced in 2020 via Evil Ink, the independent publisher and record label owned by Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez, issuing its third EP, Lords of Diesel.
