Biography
After four years performing with London’s trip-hop outfit Anamorphic, Andrea Kellerman launched a solo project under the name Firefox AK in 2004. The handle “Firefox” first occurred to her after spotting those letters on a fire hydrant; she added the initials “AK” only after discovering that Mozilla had released a widely used web browser sharing the identical name. Kellerman had already sketched several tracks on acoustic guitar when she enlisted longtime friend Viktor Ginner to reshape the material into propulsive electro-pop. “I wanted the album to be even more danceable,” Kellerman said, “and I wanted it to contain even more beats and synthesizers.” Their partnership yielded Madame, Madame!, issued across Europe by Razzia Records in 2006. Shortly thereafter the Chicago-based Minty Fresh imprint signed her, scheduling the same album for North American release in late 2007.
