Biography
Cincinnati gained recognition as a breeding ground for underground rap in part through Five Deez, a project built around the city’s standout producer and MC Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician together with MC and producer Pase Rock. The duo first appeared on EPs issued in 1999 and 2000 before delivering their debut full-length album, Koolmotor, in 2001. Both members maintain deep ties to the Cincinnati-based Wanna Battle crew, whose roster also lists DJ Hi-Tek, Talib Kweli, Lone Catalysts, and Rubix.
