Biography
Positioned midway through the British Invasion, Five's Company originated in 1964 and endured until producing a prog-concept album in 1968. Five college students assembled the band along King's Road in Chelsea that same year, then secured a deal with Pye in 1965. Three singles followed in 1966, yet none registered any impact. The group disbanded in 1967, although several former members reconvened the next year to record The Ballad of Fred the Pixie. That album, together with the earlier Pye singles and assorted demos, later appeared on Cherry Red/Grapefruit's 2017 anthology Friends and Mirrors: The Complete Recordings 1964-1968.
