Mysterious, eclectic electro-rock duo Flaunt came together in 2014 after Maine-based electronic producer Joseph Vitterito stumbled upon Colorado singer and guitarist Justin Jennings on SoundCloud. Vitterito invited Jennings to lend vocals to a pair of his productions, and the shared creative outlook prompted them to formalize the partnership, working remotely across the web. Drawing on Jennings’ rock and R&B roots, the pair mined the friction between electronic and organic sounds to shape an unexpected hybrid.

Their first full-length release, Codon, unfolded as a relaxed, predominantly electronic set that pulled from trip-hop, drum’n’bass, U.K. garage, glitch, and electro-industrial palettes. The title track earned the duo their initial modest success, registering on the Billboard club chart. Further exposure arrived through a steady stream of singles and EPs placed on streaming platforms. The 2016 follow-up, Rave Noir, broadened the palette considerably, folding in stronger traces of Jennings’ rock background alongside world-music accents while pairing every song with its own music video.

The Antics of More Youthful Times EP surfaced in 2017, after which Flaunt moved to Warner Bros. offshoot Nub Music for the third album, Spectra. Fronted by the single “Vows,” the record merged pop/rock, dub, and R&B textures with literate, emotive lyrics, skilled playing, and straightforward production that evoked Talking Heads.
