Biography
Formed in 1993 in Eugene, Oregon, the art-metal trio Floater began when singer and bassist Robert Wynia joined forces with drummer Peter Cornett, both of whom had earlier played together in Henry’s Child. After adding guitarist David Amador to the lineup, the band cut a six-song demo that drew interest from the independent imprint Elemental, which issued their first full-length album, Sink, in 1994. The follow-up, Glyph, appeared the next year and scored a significant local success with the track “The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy.” Technical setbacks in the studio pushed back the arrival of the group’s third studio effort, 1998’s Angels in the Flesh and Devils in the Bone, while a live album titled The Great Release surfaced in 1999.
