Biography
Floating Bridge was a rock band based in Seattle whose members were Rich Dangel, Joe Johansen, Joe Johnson and Michael Marinelli. The quartet’s only album appeared in 1969 and displayed a forceful twin-lead guitar approach that combined original songs with reworked covers, among them an animated version of the Beatles’ ‘Hey Jude’ and a driving medley pairing the Byrds’ ‘Eight Miles High’ with the Rolling Stones’ ‘Paint It, Black’. Despite the musicians’ evident ability and the endorsement of the then-prominent English disc jockey Simon Stable, who supplied upbeat liner notes for the UK edition, Floating Bridge enjoyed scant commercial success.
