Biography
In the wake of Exhorder’s dissolution in the early 1990s, where the band had operated as groove-trashers, frontman Kyle Thomas (vocals/guitar) assembled Floodgate by bringing in guitarist Steven Fisher, bassist Kevin Thomas, and drummer Neil Montgomery. Roadrunner Records issued the group’s lone album, Penalty, in 1996; the record drew scant attention even as it delivered a melodic spin on C.O.C.’s Southern-fried metal. Floodgate has never issued an official breakup notice yet has stayed dormant ever since, while Thomas has been linked at various points to both a reformation of Exhorder and a stint with doomster Trouble.
