Originating from the Welsh Valleys, Florence Black craft a sound blending grunge textures with melodic rock drive, which has secured them a devoted audience. Their first recording arrived as a self-titled EP in 2016, while the album Weight of the World appeared near the close of 2021.

The trio assembled in Merthyr Tydfil in 2012 when lifelong friends Tristan Thomas (guitar/vocals), Jordan Evans (bass), and Perry Davis (drums) joined forces, thereby extending the classic-rock lineage long associated with the Welsh hills. Influences ranged from early grunge trailblazers Temple of the Dog to the melodic style of 1970s stalwarts such as Fleetwood Mac, enabling the group to attract followers quickly. They released their debut EP in 2016 and followed it with EP II in 2017, while performing extensively throughout the U.K.; those efforts culminated in a support date for Stone Sour at Paris’s Bataclan. The Final, issued in 2018, featured a guest appearance by Skindred’s Benji Webbe. By 2020 the band had begun tracking demos with Bullet for My Valentine’s Michael Paget. Backed by the PPL Momentum Music Fund, they entered the studio with Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral for a Friend, Bring Me the Horizon) to complete their debut album. Weight of the World was then issued independently in late 2021.
