Biography
Michael Flower, co-founder of Vibracathedral Orchestra, joined American avant-garde drummer Chris Corsano to establish the Flower-Corsano Duo. Their singular sonic identity arose from the contrast between Corsano’s melodic percussion and the atmospheric layers generated by the bulbul tarang, a 17-string table instrument also called an “Indian banjo.” Sharing characteristics with both a dulcimer and an autoharp, the instrument supplied an ideal counterpart to Corsano’s approach. Its resonant drones created an otherworldly platform that enabled the duo to move fluidly between subdued textures and dense, cacophonous passages. The pair maintained a steady touring schedule and documented several encounters, among them their first release, Radiant Mirror, and the concert recording The Chocolate Cities, captured across Europe in 2009.
