Flutronix emerged in 2008 as a forward-thinking flute duo that fuses classical, jazz, R&B, electronica, and urban hip-hop into a fresh 21st-century blend both startling and distinctive. Nathalie Joachim and Allison Loggins-Hull first connected on MySpace as two young flutists who soon realized they resided just five blocks apart in Brooklyn. Each brought rigorous conservatory preparation—Joachim from Julliard, Loggins-Hull from New York University and the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music—along with childhood flute study, while Joachim had also honed her skills as a capable vocalist. Their instant rapport as performers, coupled with aligned artistic goals, led the pair to establish themselves as a fully professional act by 2010, personally overseeing every stage of their output from composition and publishing through booking, performance, recording, and release. That same year their self-titled debut appeared on the duo’s own Flutronix Records imprint, co-produced by Flutronix and Steven Berson; four years later the follow-up album 2.0 arrived on the same label.
